Films4Tenby will be showing the highly acclaimed Promising Young Woman (2020, 113 mins, Cert 15) on 5th July at the DeValence with the doors opening at 6:30pm and the film starting at 7pm.
Carey Mulligan (Never Let Me Go, Drive, Shame, The Great Gatsby) gives perhaps the best performance of her career to date as Cassie Thomas, a 30 year old medical school dropout looking for justice following the rape and suicide of her best friend Nina Fisher. The fabulous script by first-time director Emerald Fennell (who also wrote for Killing Eve) is full of unexpected twists and turns and darkly comedic moments with a truly shocking climax.
The film works both as a revenge thriller and a timely social commentary. There are memorable supporting performances from the likes of Adam Brody and Alfred Molina in important roles. The film was nominated for 5 Oscars, winning Best Original Screenplay, and also winning BAFTAs for the Screenplay and Outstanding British Film. Mulligan deservedly won 5 awards for her incredible performance.
Admission is £5 on the evening, £4 for Members.
