Next Feature – Lion – 8pm, Monday 3rd July

A five-year-old Indian boy gets lost on the streets of Calcutta, thousands of kilometers from home. He survives many challenges before being adopted by a couple in Australia. 25 years later, he sets out to find his lost family.

Directed by Garth Davis, the film stars Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman & Rooney Mara. Released in 2016, it was nominated for a host of awards & won two BAFTAs. The film is based upon the autobiography written by Saroo Brierley.

Next Feature – Sully – 8pm, Monday 19th June

On 15th January 2009, Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger tries to make an emergency landing in New York’s Hudson River after US Airways Flight 1549 strikes a flock of geese.

Miraculously, all of the 155 passengers and crew survive the harrowing ordeal, and Sullenberger becomes a national hero in the eyes of the public and the media.

Directed by Clint Eastwood, the film stars Tom Hanks, Aaron Eckhart and Laura Linney.

Next Feature – Love & Friendship – 8pm, Monday 3rd April

Love & Friendship is a 2016 period comedy film written and directed by Whit Stillman. Based on Jane Austen‘s epistolary novel Lady Susan, written in 1794.

Starring Kate BeckinsaleChloë SevignyXavier Samuel and Stephen Fry, this film follows the exploits of the wry and calculating Lady Susan as she pursues the wealthy and hapless Sir James for marriage originally intended for her daughter, though she eventually marries him as her own husband for purposes of wealth and profit.

Although adapted from Lady Susan, the film was produced under the borrowed title of Austen’s juvenile story Love and Friendship.

Youth (ItalianLa giovinezza) is a 2015 Italian comedy-drama film written and directed by Paolo Sorrentino. It is the director’s second English language film.

YOUTH is about two longtime friends vacationing in the Swiss Alps. Oscar winning actor Michael Caine plays Fred, an acclaimed composer and conductor, who brings along his daughter (Rachel Weisz) and best friend Mick (Harvey Keitel), a renowned filmmaker.

While Mick scrambles to finish the screenplay for what he imagines will be his last important film, Fred has no intention of resuming his musical career. The two men reflect on their past, each finding that some of the most important experiences can come later in life.

The cast also includes Paul Dano and Jane Fonda.

The Man Who Knew Infinity is a 2015 British biographical drama film based on the 1991 book of the same name by Robert Kanigel, starring Dev Patel and Jeremy Irons

The self-taught Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan (Patel), after growing up poor in Madras India, earns admittance to Cambridge University during World War I. Leaving behind his young bride, Ramanujan’s ability to produce theories seemingly instinctively was put under scrutiny by Professor GH Hardy (Irons), who without seeing the proof distrusted the young prodigy. Despite a frosty start, the two eventually form a friendship that allowed them to push the academic boundaries and create work that fundamentally changed the world’s understanding of the concept of infinity.INFINITY

Next Feature – A Hologram for The King – 8pm, Monday 2nd January 2017

A Hologram for The King is a 2016 comedy-drama film directed, written and co-scored by Tom Tykwer, based on the 2012 novel of the same name written by Dave Eggers, and starring Tom Hanks as a washed-up corporate salesman, who goes to Saudi Arabia to propose a business deal.

Sidse Babett KnudsenTom Skerritt and Sarita Choudhury also star in this international co-production between the United States, Germany and Mexico. The film was released on April 22, 2016, by LionsgateRoadside Attractions and Saban Films.

Alice through the Looking Glass is a 2016 American fantasy adventure film directed by James Bobin, written by Linda Woolverton and produced by Tim BurtonJoe RothSuzanne Todd and Jennifer Todd. It is based on the characters created by Lewis Carroll and is the sequel to the 2010 film Alice in Wonderland.

The film stars Johnny DeppAnne HathawayMia WasikowskaRhys IfansHelena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen and features the voices of Stephen FryMichael SheenTimothy Spall and Alan Rickman, in his final film role.
