Next Feature – her – Monday 20th October

Her, a very distinct Spike Jonze creation, is a romantic comedy that follows the life of Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix) and how the torment of a divorce can help you find friendship in unusual places. After seeking comfort in his OS (operating system) voiced by Scarlett Johansson, a relationship ensues.

Given the ever evolvement of artificial intelligence this heartfelt story was doomed from the offset.  Set in 2015 it is almost futuristic with a splash of science fiction and a whole lot of human emotion.

Next Feature – The Master on Monday 19th August

A 2012 American drama film written, directed, and co-produced by Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams. It tells the story of Freddie Quell (Phoenix), a World War II veteran struggling to adjust to a post-war society who meets Lancaster Dodd (Hoffman), a leader of a religious movement known as “The Cause,” who sees something in Quell and accepts him into the movement. Freddie takes a liking to “The Cause” and begins traveling with Dodd along the East Coast to spread the teachings.
